Sunday Supper South Debuts at Ponce City Market

Mark your calendars! Sunday Supper South, an annual family style Friends of James Beard Benefit Dinner honoring the simple cooking philosophy and inspired flavors of the South, will celebrate its eighth year with its debut at Ponce City Market on Sunday, October 29. Housed in the original Sears, Roebuck & Co. building, Ponce City Market is a mixed-use community hub steeped inhistory and focused on artisanal food, fashion and technology.

In the true spirit of the season, this year’s event celebrates all things creepy and crawly with a homage to Arachnophobia, transforming Ponce City Market’s main courtyard into a whimsical and spooky setting. Sunday Supper South’s annual dinner is a philanthropic platform for the future of the region’s thriving culinary community, benefitting the James Beard Foundation Scholarship Fund as well as local and regional nonprofits dedicated to promoting access to healthy food choices and furthering nutrition education, while bringing together the notable James Beard award-winning chefs, nominees and semifinalists from across to promote the vibrant culture of Southern cuisine.

Hosted by executive chef-owners Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison, the acclaimed chefs behind Atlanta’s contemporary culinary destinations Bacchanalia, Floataway Café, Star Provisions Market & Café, Little Star Provisions and W.H. Stiles Fish Camp, Sunday Supper South draws inspiration from the successful “Sunday Supper” tradition established by Chelsea Market in New York City and symbolizes the South’s commitment to shaping communities.

Guests will gather around large, communal tables under the historic building’s original train trestle to share a family style meal representing the rich culinary talents of the South. Funds for Sunday Supper South directly benefit the James Beard Foundation Scholarship Program as well as local and regional culinary nonprofits. The event begins with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by a seated dinner at 6:30 p.m.Tickets are $250 for James Beard Foundation members and $275 for non-members.
