Every big event needs visual impact to impress guests. And photography, especially selfies, are a big part of every modern event. Phase 3 continues to transform the branded experience with photography backdrops that go far beyond printed step-and-repeat vinyl to dimensional, tactile, and illuminated pieces that integrate branded elements and identities into show-stopping centerpieces.

A non-profit organization that supports young people who want to build successful careers in the retail industry, PAVE sponsors an annual gala event that brings retail design luminaries and industry supporters together for an evening of cocktails, networking, and awards. To provide the PAVE gala with a dynamic and elegant background, Phase 3 created a fully dimensional rendering of the organization’s logo, complete with subtle accent lighting.

We started by making multiple layers of router-shaped MDF, and then sandwiched them together to create depth. Since the piece had to be transported with ease, we also designed it to break down and re-assemble from three interlocking pieces, all supported by a custom wooden girder system. The highlight of the show, the piece served as a high-profile, hot-ticket selfie backdrop, as well as an impressive backdrop for broadcast media clips.
