Frequently Asked Questions
Public relations (PR) can be an extremely effective way to increase visibility for your brand. Because PR is an “earned” media (as opposed to pay-to-play), target audiences perceive PR coverage as more credible and trustworthy than traditional advertising.
Using press releases, media pitches, guest appearances, and brand activations, PR not only creates a wealth of opportunities for increased visibility but also offers the added value of third-party endorsement.
Public relations earns attention. Advertising buys it. In advertising, you control the message and decide which media will be used to disseminate it. With public relations you craft a narrative and work to persuade third parties, like journalists or influencers, to talk about and share it.
With the rise of social media and influencer marketing, the line between PR and advertising has become increasingly blurred. Some influencers require payment in order to promote brands in a way that feels like a genuine endorsement. Organic social content can also be “boosted”, meaning you pay to have your content shown to a broader audience. Phase 3 can help you navigate the best mix of paid and earned media to achieve your brand and business goals.
In 2014, Phase 3 acquired one of Atlanta’s top hospitality PR firms, integrating hospitality industry veteran Mary Reynolds and her team into our full-service branding, marketing, and PR agency. Today, Phase 3 is considered a leader in the hospitality space, developing PR, Social Media, and Content Strategy for top hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, and culinary concepts across the United States.
Phase 3 has long-established relationships with all of the major travel and hospitality media outlets as well as an outstanding track record of securing valuable press and television appearances for our hospitality clients.
Influencer marketing is a key component of hospitality PR and promotion. We research, vet, and engage top influencers and micro-influencers to drive brand awareness and engagement on behalf of top hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, and culinary concepts in Atlanta and across the United States.
Phase 3’s approach to creating and managing social media content for hospitality and travel industry clients is centered around storytelling and engagement and rooted in strategy. Emphasizing what is unique about your brand and how that aligns with the needs and desires of your target audience, we craft content that sparks curiosity and conversation and inspires sharing. Flexibility and responsiveness are essential here too.
We not only monitor the performance of our own social content, adapting content and cadence based on what resonates most with the target, but we also monitor the market, keeping tabs on current events and trends and tapping into them when relevant.
Yes! We have a wonderful portfolio of client examples above that feature successful PR and social media campaigns in the hospitality and travel industry.
As a PR firm specializing in traditional and social media, we measure the success and impact of our campaigns using a variety of qualitative and quantitative metrics, according to each client’s goals. Our team tracks press hits, media mentions, and share of voice across print, online, and broadcast media, evaluating the quality and tone of those mentions, as well as their reach, and reporting back to our clients weekly or monthly. We also closely monitor follower growth and engagement rates.
Many of our clients have had the honor of receiving key industry awards and recognition (submissions often facilitated by Phase 3), and we include those in our success metrics as well.
We measure the success of every PR campaign based on how well it achieves its goals. Defining what success looks like at the outset helps us tailor our approach and define KPIs. Generally, we look at three types of metrics when evaluating the success of a campaign: media coverage and impressions, including quantity and quality of coverage as well as the overall tone of the coverage; engagement, including likes, shares, comments, mentions, website traffic, and event attendance; and brand awareness and perception, which can be measured via social monitoring, pre and post-campaign surveys, and search volume analysis.
Lead generation is another success metric, whereby we work with clients to evaluate sales, conversions, and cost per conversion or lead. We can also monitor share of voice compared to competitors during the campaign period and estimate the Earned Media Value (EMV) of the total media coverage a campaign generated.
